GEO_CON
             Universal Coordinate Conversions


1) Purpose: This software enables the user to convert
   coordinates from geodetic (lat/lon), UTM, or state plane
   on NAD 27 or NAD 83 to geodetic (lat/lon), UTM, or state
   plane on NAD 27 or NAD 83.  Processing may be carried out
   in either "interactive" or "batch" mode.  The default
   process is interactive (you type in input data & compute
   a result).  By utilizing GEO_GBF.EXE, the conversion
   program will operate in batch mode (input file and
   resulting output file).  Also, with additional files that
   are available, geoid separations and differences between
   NGVD 29 and NAVD 88 can be generated.  However, these
   files are rather large so you should contact the person
   listed below in order to get these files.  Note: There is
   a 32-bit Windows version of this application that is also
   available on this web site (see the links to
   tricon.readme and tricon_setup.exe).

2) Installation: This software requires the DOS operating
   system to be running on your PC, whether it's 'old' DOS
   or a 32-bit MS Windows DOS.  To install:
     A) Download the geocon.exe file from this web site.
     B) Place the geocon.exe file in a directory by itself.
        This is a good idea because after you run
        geocon.exe, it will self-extract and generate well
        over 100 files.
     C) Run the self-extracting executable file (geocon.exe)
        by double-clicking on it or running it from the
        command-line.
     D) Delete the self-extracting executable file
        (geocon.exe).  This step is optional.

3) Execution: To start the coordinate conversion application
   from the DOS prompt, type "GEO_CON" and press <ENTER>.
   If you have a monochrome monitor, type "GEO_CON /bw" and
   press <ENTER>.  There are two icon (.ico) files supplied
   with these applications if you would like to set the
   applications up to be launched from Windows.

4) Documentation: There are three document (.DOC) files that
   may be helpful if you have a problem running this
   software.  All documents are ASCII text files.
